Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your current role and what are your responsibilities in the current role?

I’m a fun loving person and strongly believe in ‘Truth+Hardwork gives Growth’. I believe that people play a critical role in everyone’s life and I love to network & do whatever I can for them.

Like most people of my generation, I also graduated college with Computer science thinking that I’ll be a software developer but finally ended up in the Sales career. I love my profession as it helps me to meet new people, learn new things and keep myself active.

I’m even thankful to my parents for instilling in me a belief and a strong foundation that I can achieve anything and to my wife & kids for their support.

I’m responsible for the Networking business for Citrix in India sub-continent region. Having spent good amount of time in the Networking field, this role is both challenging & interesting as I work towards building the business in India and taking it to newer heights of success for Citrix.

How did you get here? Tell us a little bit about your past history that led up to this role?

I’ve been into IT Sales for the past 21 years having worked with organisations like Ingram Micro, Cisco, Nortel among others. I’ve been with Citrix now for the past 8 years and it has been one of the best tenures of my career. Citrix has given me the opportunity to showcase my skills on various portfolios with different roles. I started off 8years back as a Channel & Distribution Manager, then moved to build the Mid-market/Commercial business and am now driving the Networking business for Citrix.

What do you think is the role of a manager or leader in today’s world? What makes a good manager or leader?

In my belief, a Leader is the one who takes the team along with him & makes them succeed. Setting the right expectation, guiding them to attain the goals, showing them the way forward and supporting the team are the key parameters for a ‘True Leader’ in my books.

I’ve always strived towards these tenets when working with my teams.

If I flip the above question around now, when you are hiring for your team or your organisation, what are some of the key traits that you look for, irrespective of the role for which you are hiring? What traits should today’s young professionals have?

  •  Positive Attitude
  • Hard-working
  • Straight forward
  • Interest to take/face new challenges
  • Being flexible
  • Passionate

Life is a series of ups and downs. Can you share with us some of your biggest UP and DOWN moments and what did you learn from them?

My assignment to Srilanka was a great turning point in my life. Living in a different country and learning to enjoy the Sri Lankan culture was a huge high. Being in a long distance relationship, then getting married to her and the first sight of my sons are some of the greatest unforgettable moments in my life.

A few months back losing my wife in a tragic accident has been the biggest loss for me. Uma was my bedrock motivating me, encouraging me and pushing me forward in my hard times & of course enjoying the joyous parts of life.

How important do you think is the function of Marketing to your organisation’s success? As a leader, what do you look towards marketing to deliver to the organisation?

Marketing is one of the most critical functions of any organisation. It builds the organisation’s awareness in the market and helps to give an air cover to sales teams as they meet with potential customers.

As a Leader, I look towards marketing to deliver the right message to the marketplace about the organisation by leveraging the right paths like social media and digital marketing.
